About the Artists

Steve Kohoutek

Steve Kohoutek launched his first website in 2003, at around the same time he received a point-and-shoot digital camera as a gift from his parents. While many of the interests featured on that early site did not survive the leap from college to The Real World, Steve's interest in photography continued to grow. He believes this was largely due to the existence of the website as a means of exhibiting his photos, and now views the two as parts of a single project.

Steve is particularly interested in photographing small details, scenes of unintended humor, and images that evoke a sense of time and place. In 2016, he completed a "photo a day" project, creating nearly five hundred new photos over the course of the year. He has primarily shot 35mm film in recent years.

Steve lives in Hawaii, on a mountainside overlooking the ocean.

Frank Kohoutek rediscovered photography as an artistic medium many years after his time as a fine art student. He found that technology had changed since the late 1970s, but the power of photography was just as it had always been. With the help of his son Steve, Frank began posting his photos online in 2008.

Frank initially explored outdoor, landscape, and nature photography, but through his friendship with professional photographer Doug Beasley has become much more interested in images that capture the depth and variety of human experience.

Frank lives in Minnesota, surrounded by tall trees.
